Meet Shara M. Chen, PA

With over a decade of experience in Women’s Health, I am passionate about providing culturally sensitive, compassionate, and comprehensive care to women at every stage of life.

As a Physician Assistant specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, I have a strong interest in family planning, patient education, and supporting women as they transition through the various seasons of life.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis, and completed my master’s in physician assistant studies at Samuel Merrit University. Originally from the Philippines and raised in the Bay Area, I relocated with my family to Northern Virginia in 2019, where we’ve enjoyed becoming part of the DMV community.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time outdoors, experimenting in the kitchen, dancing, and keeping up with my two kids. I am also deeply committed to mentoring youth and currently serve as a mentor in the local public school system. My favorite part of my work is forming long-lasting relationships with my patients, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and cared for just like family.

I’ve been a patient of PA Shara Chen for 3 years. Due to her quality of care, I became a new patient at Capital Women’s Care. She is genuine and takes the time to get to know her patients and address any questions and concerns. Couldn’t recommend her enough. My entire experience at this practice overall was welcoming and helpful.

This office is outstanding, they got me in for an appointment the day after I reached out, and I had almost no wait on the day of the appointment. The PA Shara Chen was kind and knowledgeable. Everyone from the front desk to the phlebotomist exhibited a level of professionalism and kindness that I feel is a rare occurrence lately. 10/10 would recommend.

Dr Shara Chen is kind, professional, listens and takes her time to answer questions. She was also my dr at her previous location in Fairfax. Highly recommend! Her assistant Miriam (I believe that was her name) was also friendly and professional.

I was initially the patient of Shara Chen, PA-C when she worked at Fairfax Gynecology Group. Her warm nature and genuine concern for my wellbeing is what made me follow her to her new location. Although I see her yearly, my concerns are always addressed.
